FORESTRY COMMISSION

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Forestry Commission has entered into a Partnership Agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations under the National Forest Programme Facility (NFP) for implementing series of activities aimed at safeguarding the benefits due to farmers participating in the Modified Taungya Plantation Scheme. The Partnership Agreement responds to forest stakeholders’ expressed need to promote equitable arrangements for farmers partnering the Forestry Commission in plantation development in Ghana. The FAO therefore seeks to contract qualified organizations to implement activities resulting in the registration of outstanding Benefit Sharing Agreements (BSAs) of taungya farmers. Successful contractors will take responsibility for specific lots according to regions. Details are available in the NFP Facility Terms of Reference (ToR).

To achieve the objectives of the Partnership Agreement, Proposals are, hereby, invited from qualified civil society groups (NGOS, CBOS, Academic Institutions and Non-Profit Organisations) to execute contracts based on the set of activities in the ToR. The ToR which contains instructions on how to prepare the proposals is available at the Forestry Commission’s Regional Forest Services Division Offices. Copies of the ToRs in pdf format can also be downloaded from the Forestry Commission’s website (http://www.fcghana.com).

Note that the deadline for the submission of the Proposals is by 10.00 am on 27th May 2011.
