The Forestry Commission has donated two (2) Yamaha motorbikes to the Achimota School District Police Command on at the premises of the Commission’s Headquarters, Accra.

The motorbikes estimated to be about Fifty One Thousand , Eight Hundred and Eleven Ghana Cedis (GHC51,811.00) were presented with an additional amount of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC10, 000.00) as maintenance and fuel package to the Police Command to aid in the discharge of their duties within the Achimota Forest and its environs.

Mr. John Allotey, Deputy Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, made the presentation on behalf of the Forestry Commission and stated that the Achimota School Police Station is very close to the Commission and as such, it is the first point of call whenever the Commission is in need of security services.

Mr. Allotey mentioned that the Commission donated the motorbikes as part of its corporate social responsibility and he was very optimistic that the gesture will go a long way to help the Police Administration in discharge of their duties and assist the Commission in protecting the Achimota Forest.

 Mrs. Christine Srofenyoh, District Police Commander of the Achimota School Police Command, expressed her gratitude to the Forestry Commission. She stressed on the fact that it was not the first time the Commission had come to their aid. She recounted that they called on the Commission sometime back to help renovate her current office and the aid came sooner than they expected.  She furthered by saying,  the bikes  will enhance their operations within the Achimota Forest because there are some parts of the  Forest which cannot be penetrated by their cars therefore the motorbikes will  help them patrol those areas  to curb the rate of crimes that happen within  the Forest and its environs.

She concluded by thanking the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, his Deputy and the entire staff of the Commission for their continuous support to her Office.
